Terms of service

Parent-managed access to a private reading service.

These terms describe the intended relationship between Tale Lantern and the adult who creates and controls a family account.

Operator: Brian Pisowicz / Tale Lantern (Testing) · Effective 2026-08-23

1. Parent account and authority

The account holder must be an adult able to enter a binding agreement and must have authority to create and manage the included child profiles. The account holder is responsible for accurate account information, credentials, device access, supervision, and all activity under the household.

2. Child experience

Children use private profiles inside the parent’s household. Tale Lantern is a creative reading product, not a school, tutor, diagnostic test, medical device, or emergency service. Parents should review whether generated material and selected themes are appropriate for their family.

3. Generated content

Stories, questions, explanations, and illustrations are generated with automated systems and can contain mistakes or inconsistencies despite safety and quality controls. Report concerning output through parent support. Tale Lantern may pause a model, theme, provider, household, or generation feature to protect families or service reliability.

4. Acceptable use

Do not use the service to request prohibited, illegal, exploitative, sexual, hateful, graphic, dangerous, privacy-invasive, or realistic child-endangerment content; probe another household; upload material without permission; bypass limits or safety systems; reverse engineer the service; or interfere with its operation.

5. Plans, billing, and renewal

Current price, monthly billing interval, story allowance, trial terms, taxes, and renewal details appear before checkout. Subscriptions renew monthly until canceled through the parent billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period unless checkout terms or applicable law require otherwise. New creation then stops. Completed books remain in a read-only family library while the account remains open, and the parent may export or delete household information at any time.

6. Family content and permissions

The account holder retains rights they already have in submitted names, descriptions, and reference images and grants Tale Lantern the limited permission needed to operate, secure, generate, store, display, export, and delete the private household service. Do not upload another person’s image or creative material without permission.

7. Tale Lantern service and intellectual property

The Tale Lantern product, software, design, trademarks, operational systems, and non-user materials remain owned by the operator and its licensors. The final launch terms will state the family’s permitted personal use of generated books and any restrictions on commercial use, resale, public distribution, or provider-derived assets.

8. Availability and account action

Service availability is not guaranteed. Maintenance, provider failures, safety incidents, capacity controls, legal requirements, or misuse may delay generation or suspend access. Tale Lantern will provide reasonable notice and an export opportunity before a planned service discontinuation where practical, but may act immediately when necessary to prevent harm or unauthorized use.

9. Privacy

The Privacy Notice describes information handling, AI processing, analytics choices, retention, export, and deletion. It is part of the launch agreement once finalized.

10. Final legal provisions

Warranty disclaimers, liability limits, dispute terms, governing law, contact details, refunds, assignment, severability, and regional consumer rights require launch-jurisdiction review and will be finalized before public sales. This preview is not presented as the final binding agreement.
